Star of Excellence Award
2 November 2007Lawrence Bank presents Star of Excellence |
Lawrence Bank is proud to announce Captain Pat Karlin of the Lawrence Fire Department as its first recipient of the Lawrence Bank Star of Excellence Award.
Captain Karlin has devoted 15 years of service to the Lawrence Fire Department and is currently serving at Station 2 located in East Lawrence. Capt. Karlin is involved in the community on many different levels.
Coach Karlin enjoys coaching community youth-sports teams including football, baseball and soccer. Karlin was an Assistant Baseball Coach at Free State High School for four years. If you’ve attended Red Dog’s Dog Days then you’ve probably followed Karlin’s leadership in those exercises too.
"I try to incorporate 'Life Lessons' into the sports I coach. I feel it is important for youth to understand that a solid work ethic in sports is essential as it helps them prepare to be successful in all of life. It is equally important that learning the sport occurs in a fun atmosphere," said Pat Karlin.
Another program close to Pat’s heart is the Watch DOGS program at his children’s school, Langston Hughes Elementary. The DOGS acronym stands for Dads of Great Students and is a way for Dads to be involved in their child’s school day and provide another set of watchful eyes to keep our kids safe.
Pat’s and his wife, Mary Beth, have 3 children, Cooper, Tory and Cauden.
Lawrence Bank congratulates Pat Karlin for being a Star of Excellence.
