LAWRENCE, KS - Lawrence Bank is proud to announce John Tacha, owner of Bureau of Lectures and Concert Artists, Inc. as its May 2008 recipient of the Lawrence Bank Star of Excellence Award.
Mr. Tacha has devoted over 30 years of service to a variety of community boards in Lawrence, many of them benefiting children. He has served on the Lawrence Public School Board, Cottonwood, Inc. Board, Lawrence Memorial Hospital Endowment Board, Public School Endowment Board, Chair of the Lawrence Schools Business Partnership, Chair of the First Douglas County Children’s Initiative Group, First United Methodist Church Committees and many other community organizations.
One particular achievement that Mr. Tacha was a part of was obtaining the bond for Free State High School. “I had no partiality to it. It is just something the community really needed. I had two sons that went to Lawrence High and two daughters that went to Free State," said Mr. Tacha.
"I have always been taught to give back to my community. It is something that my parents have instilled in me since I was a kid. I feel it is important to share your talents with others and mine that I enjoy is working with kids." said Mr. Tacha. "Lawrence is an amazing place. There are a lot of people that help make things happen in the community and have helped me achieve what I have. They too are very important to recognize."
As owner of Bureau of Lectures and Concert Artists, Inc., Mr. Tacha provides entertainment options for schools throughout the United States. This year the organization will conduct over 5,000 assembly programs in 40 states.
John and his wife, Danell, a Federal Judge, have four children, John, David, Sarah and Leah and one newborn granddaughter.
